Mental Health Awareness Month

Celebrating Children's Mental Health Awareness Throughout the Month of May

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

May 3-9 is Children's Mental Health Awareness week.

May 7 is Children's Mental Health Awareness Day.

We look forward to celebrating mental health awareness together throughout the month of May so that we can, in the words of the National Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health, "join in a national dialogue about the importance of children's mental health in an effort to raise awareness and end prejudice and discrimination."

Families as Allies is the Federation of Families chapter in Mississippi. Please partner with them throughout May to bring children's mental health into focus through these activities:

1. Join Families as Allies weekly #apartbutnotalone Friday webinar series @ 1 p.m. and invite others to do so, too.

May 8th:

Family-Driven Practice: What It Means and Why It Matters

May 15th:

A Family-Driven System of Care in Mississippi

May 22nd:

ADA, OLMSTEAD and EPSDT: What Do These Letters Mean to Me?

May 29th:
Supporting the Social/Emotional Health of Young Children

2. Volunteer to do a guest blog or Zoom interview for us.

3. Join us on any Wednesday in May from 3:30-5 PM for our family-driven practice training for providers. This training is interactive and helps us learn just as much from our provider partners as we hope they learn from us. Although this training is focused on the needs of providers, please note that all of our training is open to families. You can register at these links for training on May 6May 13May 20 and May 27.
